Another +1 for a nice-to-have feature!  

A couple days in now and I haven’t seen the jumping behaviour once. (I sync with Dropbox. ) Thank you for tracking this down and (I hope!) sorting this out!!

Sadly does not fix it! Or at least — it fixes it for a little while, but then the problem re-emerges.  

Sadly still beach balling on new note creation in B75. iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015) on 10.15.7.

Still working great FYI  — haven't seen this bug in 70 at all.  

Hey — thanks for checking. I haven't seen this once since I upgraded! I'll probably do some more heavy duty note making on Sunday, so I'll let you know if that crops up.

This is still happening — my suspicion is that this may have to do with Dropbox re-syncing changes to the file. I'm going to pause Dropbox and see if I still see the (intermittent) behaviour.  

Correction — I don't even need to hit return to elicit this behaviour. Happens when I'm just typing too, sometimes.
