Only a few notes appear in the sidebar?

Okay, I'm brand new to the beta so maybe this has been covered and there's a very good reason for it. But I'm confused.
I pointed nvultra to my Notes folder with hundreds of plain .txt files, but only 7 of them show up in the sidebar. At first I thought it was a mistake, like only 7 of my notes were even imported. But when I search for words that appear in other notes, the sidebar updates and I can see that they've actually been imported. But the sidebar only shows a few of them? Can I no longer see all my notes the way I could with nvAlt?
If I search for "car" then the sidebar updates to show me a few notes with "car" but I'm not sure if it's showing me everything with "car" or just the top results. What's the idea here?
I just searched for a word that I know appears in several titles. The search bar autocompleted with one of the filenames, but neither that note -- nor any other that I know has that word in the title -- shows up in the sidebar.
So I guess my first experience with nvUltra is a bit of confusion. Can someone explain whether I'm seeing expected behavior?
