I agree with the suggestion to have a left-side column list of folders. I hope that this can be added at some point to make it easier to quickly navigate to specific folders.

I concur. I'd add that flattening subfolder structure is really jarring to me. I put stuff in folders for a reason :-)

Sublime text (with a package called ... i think ... Advanced Folder Management) is pretty good at it.

Me too!  I have some stuff I am working on where I am using file inclusion and it would be nice to organize content into subfolders and be able to quickly add/edit files in the subfolders.

We'll continue to consider suggestions, but at this point we are not planning on adding an extra column to support folders as a separate table.

nvUltra intentionally allows you to work with files in subfolders -- you can search files at any depth (useful when you forget where you filed something).  If you want to restrict your search, you can include the name of subfolder in your search query (if you have the table sorted by file name, then it makes this even easier to visualize).  You can create new files inside any of the subfolders easily, just like creating files in the top level.  If you're going to be working exclusively in a subfolder for a while, there is even a right click menu item to open that subfolder as a new window.

I understand where you are coming from, but I can say that one thing I like a little about nvUltra compared to nvAlt is that if you close the window, it loses contact with the folder you had open and you have to reload it. I generally use the app with a single folder, and I'd prefer to be able to return to my files quickly whenever I open the app. I'd still want the option of working with different folders as well. That's why a folder list makes the most sense to me.

I do realize that there are currently a few different ways to quickly open previously-used folders, however.

Make sure to try version 27.

Folder navigator is nice add, but I do wish this could work something like note.app where all the subfolders in your main notes folder are there to be clicked on / browsed through without having to type the name of it or to go thru task of opening separately

any updates on folders in the left-navigator?

It is unsettling to open a folder but have it only display the files, not subfolders.

No updates.  Still not something we are planning at this time.
