Selected file in sidebar randomly changes while I type

I've been having issues when I'm typing in a file and suddenly the selected file in the sidebar changes, and I find myself typing into a different file.

I tried deleting all plist and cache files etc. (using AppCleaner) with no change.

This is actually happening for me on two different machines that are both using the same notes folder via Dropbox sync.

I can't reproduce it regularly, but I could probably get a video next time it happens.

    This has been happening to me too — I came here to see if anyone else was experiencing it. I wasn't sure I wasn't fat-fingering the trackpad on my laptop, but now I'm working on an external mechanical keyboard and it's still happening.

    I'd say it's been happening roughly every 15 minutes? Jack, does that track?

    Matthias Ferber I can pretty much reproduce it on command now. And when it happens, it happens before I can even type a single sentence.

    That's interesting! Have you found a way to trigger it, or is it just happening that frequently to you?

    Thank you for the link, David. My notes are in Dropbox, which tracks with what's known about this so far. I was going to move them into iCloud anyway, so why not now!

    I have also been deviled by this exact problem. I also use dropbox sync. I can't really predict when it will happen -- everything will be fine for a week or two and then suddenly, while writing, it will jump rapidly between documents on its own. Sometimes it seems that typing triggers the behavior, but it will also happen when I am not typing. As sometimes I end up typing over another document and then it jumps back this is a pretty significant problem.

    Fletcher Penney Hey Fletcher, I can file this as a new issue if needed. But I think whatever you did to fix this problem has caused a new problem. I'm having an issue where I use the search field to navigate to or create a new note, but what actually shows in the main pane doesn't change. I can even still edit it.
