Clicking link to an external folder makes preview window black

I can't replicate this.  Are you seeing any relevant errors in Console?  What version of macOS are you using?

Clicking in the preview effectively does nothing (the desired destination is outside of the sandbox, so the WebView does nothing).  Clicking in the editor, however, uses the Finder to open the URL, which is not sandboxed, so the folder is opened.

(I assume your use of three periods was a typo, and you meant to include only two in your example??)

I use Mac OS 10.14.6. I don't know how and where to look for errors.

Instead of doing nothing in the Preview panel, clicking makes that panel empty and black. Then I can only get it back if I click in the editor window and then cmd-ctrl-p. Clicking in the editor seems to work correctly. The periods were because I didn't want to copy in the full path.

I made a 10 sec screen capture movie. Can/should I attach it here?

You could attach it to a support ticket, not in the forums (only screenshots are allowed in the forums, I don't think videos are.)

The screen capture would be very helpful to see if there is something else happening.  Thank you!

OK, so if you meant to submit a request, I just did it and attached the short video.

It may be an issue with older versions of macOS.  I still can't replicate, nor do I see anything obvious on the video.

Due to limitations by macOS/sandboxing on WKWebViews in more recent versions of macOS, I don't think this link will work.  If you convert your document to an HTML file (e.g. by using MultiMarkdown) and open that HTML file in Safari, the link does not work (at least when I try it on macOS 12.2).

The black screen may be an artifact of older versions of macOS, but I'm not sure there is anything I can do to fix it.

But to be clear -- the intended behavior is not that the link will work, since that is restricted by macOS, not nvUltra.

OK, to further clarify, the link is to a folder inside the Documents:

    file:///Users/tpali/Documents/WRK/sci_mng/tp_mng/20190101_bf_seminars/2021_BRC_Calendar

When I click the link in the Editor panel, it creates a new Finder window, and places the focus on the window (in Finder). The same happens if I paste this link in the URL field of Safari. I guess these are normal.

But if I click the link "folder" in Preview panel, then the Preview panel becomes dark. Control-command-p does not bring it back. I can only get it back if if I first click somewhere in the Editor panel and then control-command-p. I understand that nothing should happen, but bad thing happens instead :) (Anyway sometime I should upgrade the OS.)
