URL's with the file: scheme do not seem to be supported

I would like to have notes that reference files on my hard drive.

For example if I have the following file:  /Users/curt/Documents/report.pdf, I can reference it with the following URL file:///Users/curt/Documents/report.pdf

In nvUltra I create a note with the text My Report.  I then select that text and press Cmd-V  to paste the URL and nvUltra correctly creates replaced the text with:

[My Report](file:///Users/curt/Documents/report.pdf)

However, when I click on the link in the preview pane nothing happens.  I would expect nvUltra to a attempt to open the file using the default application for .pdf files.  Other apps that I have will correctly open the file with this URL.

This works correctly in nvUltra  for URLS with the https: scheme by opening the link in my default browser.

Note that if I click on the link in the editor it correctly opens a finder window highlighting the file's entry.
