Delay in search working
CompletedNot sure how you would troubleshoot this but basically I know of a file that had that word "SAM" in the filename *and* the file content. Putting "SAM" or "sam" in the search field did NOT list the file (but listed other files). As I was writing this message I went back to confirm some assumptions and now the search is working.
Obviously there was something going on in the background but there was no feedback that something was catching up.
I'm storing my files in iCloud and use the feature that offloads files to save space, so I wonder if that was the issue.
But there was some time there that I began to assume the file was lost or somewhere else.

If the file is not on your disk, then nvUltra can't index it.
I'm exploring whether to have nvUltra automatically download any file in the folder that is not local and needs indexing. Once indexed, it could be "removed" from the local disk by iCloud and would still remain in the index.

I spoke from memory too soon. I had already implemented the "download iCloud files that aren't local yet" in the mac version of nvUltra (I added it when I started the iOS project and ran into this.)
So in this case the desired file was requested but had not been downloaded yet. (I can't prioritize which files are downloaded first by macOS from iCloud, and if there are many files in the desired directory, it may take some time for the specific one you want to arrive.)
I definitely recommend leaving cached indexes enabled in this scenario, as then you can continue to search the text of the file even if it has been removed from your local storage. Obviously when you attempt to open the file, you will still have to wait for it to arrive.
What I can do is go ahead and include the filename in the index even though the contents have NOT been indexed and the file is not available.

That sounds great. I do keep cached index checked. I really wish Apple would allow the user to mark specific folders to always be downloaded. I don't think that would be much to ask and most other cloud storage services now offer it.
Maybe one day.

Yeah -- I have not tried digging into a way to accomplish that myself.
But only rarely have I tried to open a file that was not local.
