Multiple dock icons if opened and closed repeatedly

I use a hotkey (CMD+F11) to open and close the app. Works wonderfully. I was playing with opening and closing it super fast and the dock icons for it started to stack up. They stayed there until i opened and closed it more slowly, disappearing one by one.

 

Steps to reproduce:

Uncheck "Show dock icon"

Check "Show menu bar icon"

Set a global hotkey

Open and close the app via the hotkey as fast as possible.

  I'll have to keep digging.  I can replicate this, but have not yet found a way to prevent it.   (Other than to toggle on/off more slowly....  Like a person normally does... 😊 )
