Bug (?) Sidebar doesn't reappear when searching
CompletedNot sure if this is a bug or just isn't a feature. Seems like an essential thing to me, but that could just be me.
Anyway, when I have the sidebar hidden and then type cmd-L and start searching for a new note, the sidebar doesn't reappear to show me the results of the search. I tried both the sidebar in both vertical and top positions, but in either place when I hide the sidebar and search it doesn't reappear.
I am using the beta 64.

I can't recall if there was a reason we didn't expose the sidebar on search if it was intentionally hidden, but I agree that it probably should show back up. Will look into it.

This is intentional. The majority of feedback was that users did not want focus mode to exit just because they were navigating via the search/create bar. You can use the up down arrow keys to move through the list "blind" if you like, or toggle out of focus mode if you want to perform a new search and see all of the results.

The original behavior was the other way around.

Ah. I seemed to recall this being a topic of discussion before.

It can be revisited, but:
1. Toggling the file list when desired is trivially easy with the keyboard shortcut.
2. I do agree that it can be disrupting when the file list reappears unexpectedly because you typed something in the search/create bar. (Which can include typing a new file name to create a new file, which does *not* require that the file list reappear)
3. I also agree that seeing the list of files is helpful when actively searching, but circle back to #1 and it is not difficult to manually toggle on/off.
I am inclined to leave as is.

For me, I automatically hide the sidebar when I start typing. But when I search I want it to reappear so I can see the search results. Pressing an additional keystroke before searching in order to unhide the sidebar would be an extra step and an annoyance.
Of course, I could probably type these two keystrokes together in Keyboard Maestro, so it's not a huge deal.
Perhaps it could be added to preferences, allowing the user to choose which behavior they prefer?

Well even if it's always possible to script or automate this behavior, I stil believe it doesn't make any sense to press any additional keystroke and even invoke any extern app to do so.
So please add the automatic sidebar appearing when typing a search.
