[Bug] Navigator Disappears When Preferences Pane Is Open
CompletedI think this is a bug:
I start nvUltra. When I open Preferences, the Navigator disappears. That doesn't happen in any other macOS apps I use as far as I can recall.
If I ⌘-Tab to a different app, then ⌘-Tab back, the Navigator reappears. If I click the still-open Preferences pane, Navigator disappears again.
If I use the cursor to click away and then click back, the same behavior, unless the Navigator and Preferences are both visible. Then clicking away and clicking Preferences does not cause Navigator to disappear.
Open Preferences, Navigator disappears, click away, click Preferences, Navigator reappears, but doesn't have the focus, click away, click Preferences, Navigator does not disappear.
Using ⌘-Tab to go back to nvUltra returns the focus to Navigator, and clicking Preferences causes it to disappear again.
I have nvUltra 1.0.0 (58) and macOS Catalina 10.15.4 on a 15" 2018 MacBook Pro

I'll need to walk through this. My first instinct was that this is the intended behavior, but then I realized I think you were referring to something different than I initially thought.

I might be misunderstanding, but this seems to be the correct behavior.
When you activate nvUltra, if there are no open documents, the navigator is shown on the assumption that you want to open a document and the navigator is generally the fastest way to do that. (NOTE: If you only have a single folder that has been opened in nvUltra, it opens that folder by default instead of the navigator window). The presence of the Preferences window does not change this behavior.
The navigator window is a transient window that goes away as soon as it loses focus. This is intentional. So when changing to the preferences window, or another document window, the navigator disappears.
Hopefully this explains things.
