spinning beach ball of death

i have a persistent hang in 48 (spinning beach ball of death). i have to force quit. when i reopen it still hangs. haven't tried restarting the machine yet. what do you need from me?

If you let it hang for a while, you can sometimes get a hang report (similar to a crash report). If so, that will let me see exactly what is happening.
Otherwise, can use Activity Monitor to do something similar:
* Select nvUltra in the process list
* The popup menu button with the gear has an option -> "Sample Process"
* Send that text as a file attachment in a support ticket. The hang report option might be better, but we can try this as a plan B.

i can't get a hang report because nothing happens no matter how long i let it hang for. i can only force quit and when i start it up again it hangs again. the sample process file from activity monitor is linked below.

Likewise here, I can replicate every time:
1. make edits to currently open file
2. click on a different file in the File List

I'm getting the spinning beach ball a lot.
Version: Version 1.0.0 (52)
OS: 10.15.2 (19C57)
I think this is the most current version. This was happening with previous versions for me as well.

I am also getting the beachball just typing into any document. I also got the beach ball with I checked the document's spelling.
