agreed. there are a number of ways in which nvUltra differs from standard interfaces that we all love and/or hate. for example is it me or is there no way of creating a duplicate of a file in nvUltra. do i really have to go to the finder to do that?!

nvAlt and nvUltra are intentionally different than other applications.  The "document" for both apps is a folder, not an individual file.  So something like Cmd-N would actually create a folder.  Which is why the shortcut is Cmd-Shift-N instead of Cmd-N.

The goal with nvAlt/nvUltra is to minimize the need to use menus and the mouse, when possible.  So creating a new file is all done with the keyboard via the search/create bar.  No need to use a separate dialog window to do it, simply type the desired filename and start working.

As for duplicating files, we can consider that for a future update.

Well, sort of. If I create a new file by hitting escape to get to the search field, and type a name for my file that is new, then hit return, the cursor does not go to the text area so I can just start typing. In addition, if I try to use the mouse to place the cursor in the text field, when I click, I have to be sure the mouse cursor is at the right position or it doesn't work. For example, the very top portion of the text field doesn't accept a mouse click to place the cursor in the text field.

Once my file exists in my folder, if I search for the file and get a match, and then hit return, it works as I expect and places the text cursor in the text field for typing.

Tthkbw -- Are you using the new versions?  Typing a new filename and hitting enter brings the focus to the text view in the new file.

I apologize. User error--I would have sworn I installed version 48, but the version with the problem is version 46. Version 48 works as advertised.

    Thanks for the help.
