I assume you mean Ctrl-Opt-P (Mac's don't have an Alt key per se, though some universal keyboards will use an Alt label to mean the same thing as Option).

Ctrl-Opt-P is the macOS key combination to type the symbol for Pi when using US English keyboards (though for some reason it doesn't actually appear and may be inserting another invisible character instead??).  It can do something completely different when using other localizations.

When you type this, you are basically searching for files that include the character Pi (or whatever invisible character is actually being inserted).  Since there are no matches, the notes list is empty, and there is nothing to display in the editor/preview.

You have to make sure to delete the invisible character, and your notes reappear.

A great thank you.You are right.: it was the Option key. Excellent explanation. Will avoid the key combination in the future.

I wish I could explain why the Pi character does not appear -- Same thing happens when I use the macOS Keyboard Viewer to simulate the key presses...

On my Swiss keyboard the assignment control-option-P is PI (key viewer), but PI doesn't appear neither in my text editors (e.g. Textmate) nor in textedit. But π is inserted by the key shortcut Option-P (as in this comment). It seems CONTROL cancels the assignment.

Thanks again for your efforts. nvUltra rocks!

My most appreciated functions is the "transclusion" (in MMD) of text pieces through placeholder links e.g. {{text_piece_01.md}} in a document. But keeping the pieces as notes separated. I can remodel the content of the document by working on the single piece and composing the document's logics/flow on the flight. Keeping editor and preview simultaneously open is great (I used Marked 2 and nvAlt before).
