[BUG] Slow and laggy typing
CompletedThere's a small amount of typing lag in nvUltra.
Characters do not appear on the canvas as fast as they do in Terminal when I compare.
The difference is slight, but slightly unnerving.
I've also had issues with apps like Notes being laggy when typing.
Steps:
- New file
- Type
- Compare to Terminal or some other text editor
You may need to capture video to see the speed at which characters appear on the screen versus the sound generated from pressing the key to see how much slower it is.

Paul,
1. What are the specs of your computer (e.g. CPU, number of cores, RAM, etc)
2. What do things look like on Activity monitor when typing in nvUltra? (How much CPU going to nvUltra vs other top apps when sorting by CPU)
3. What are you typing (e.g. gibberish, real words, lists, plain text paragraphs, what language, etc.?)
4. How long is the document?
When I type gibberish as quickly as I can, nvUltra keeps up whether preview is enabled or not, *unless* I turn on check spelling while typing -- the amount of spelling mistakes (basically every word) causes things to slow down. (Same thing happens for me in TextEdit).
When a single paragraph gets *really* long, then it starts to lag a little bit because performing the MultiMarkdown syntax highlighting starts to take longer (you can disable syntax highlighting to see this effect when you re-open a file). I use a lot of optimizations to try to minimize the range of the document that is parsed, but it would be extremely difficult to accurately limit parsing to less than a single paragraph.

<bump>
Any further details you can offer? Is this still happening? Does it persist if you restart nvUltra?

<bump again> Still an issue? Or should I close this out?

Email reply suggests this is better. Will close and new issues can be opened as needed.
