Color banding in build 40 app icon
CompletedCongratulations on your latest app icon design! Even though you did not change all that much, the design of the icon is much better than in the previous iteration (which seemed unfinished).
There appears to be some color banding in the red background, so perhaps you would like to check the settings for saving to the icon file.

I'm not seeing the banding at all on any of my displays. What type of display (1x, 2x, 4k), and at what size are you seeing it?

There seems to be some color banding when viewing the AppIcon.icns file up close on a non-retina MacBook Air. The readings of MacOS's Digital Color Meter appear to confirm the issue. After first noticing it at full screen size (comparing app icon iterations), I am also seeing it on the Launchpad.

Thanks. It's slight but I am seeing it on a 1x display. I'll try to figure out how to avoid that :).

And by "avoid that" you mean avoid the banding in the first place or avoid looking at 1× displays? ;-)

I still need to get a few years out of this old Thunderbolt Display, so I’ll just work on fixing the banding.

Just chiming in to say I ❤️ the new icon...

Dan Byler -- thanks!!

The visibility of the color banding in the build 41 icon is less obvious, but still present. The colors do appear to have become somewhat somber, however. What happened to the sparkling brightness of the colors?

It did get dull somehow, I'll have to go back to source files. I admit I'm still unable to see the banding on any of my displays, so beyond adding a little noise to the gradient I'm not sure how to tackle it.

Build 71 finally fixes the banding issue on my display, which is still the same non-retina MacBook Air as before. Well done!
