You should be on release 37 now, please download the latest and let us know if you still have an issue:

thx Brett, NVU launches... I'm encountering  another  issue, related to iCloud (the files are loading for whatever reason).

I let you know if something gets wrong,

    thx,

This happened to me on release 38. It worked and then one day it quit working. I'm also on Mojave 10.14.6. I have 2 iMacs and a MacBook that I use in different locations. All use the same notes folder on Dropbox. All worked. Then, a couple weeks ago nvAltUltra stopped working on one of the iMacs. I tried reinstalling to no avail. No error. Just doesn't launch. But it worked on my other iMac and MacBook. Now it has stopped on my 2nd iMac. Still worked on my MacBook last week (I was traveling). I will try installing release 40 and see if it helps.

Quick followup. Release 40 works on one of the iMacs...for now

Betas expire about a month after release.  They expire because beta testing old versions doesn't help us with testing, and exposes you to the adverse effects of bugs that have already been fixed, which certainly doesn't help you.

Build 38 was a while ago (I don't remember exactly when), so if it stopped working it was probably expired (and almost certainly is expired now).  Make sure to allow nvUltra to check for updates if it asks, and doesn't hurt to check every week or so anyway, in addition to whenever you receive notification that a new version has been released.

(FYI -- build 41 should be out within the next day or so...)
