Navigator Window Behavior with Dropbox Path
CompletedHello. New to the Beta. I am running into an issue launching the dropbox folder I store my notes in. this also might be an edge case, but i suspect other dropbox users will run into this. I have two dropbox accounts syncing on my machine. one personal and one business. the dropbox app in all its wisdom renames the personal account Dropbox (Personal) when you have two accounts like this. So my Folder path for my notes looks like this: '/Volumes/dbox/Dropbox (Personal)/NVALT Notes'
When I select that folder path and hit return the navigator window disappears but does not open the folder. Double-clicking produces the same behavior. The only way I can open the folder is by going to File>Open Recent.
I created another directory outside of dropbox and that opens via the navigator as expected. I'm guessing the "Dropbox (Personal)" part of the path is causing the issue. Any thoughts.

Quit nvUltra. Run Console. Open nvUltra and try to open the folder via the navigator. Filter Console for "nvUltra" and see if anything interesting pops up.
nvUltra doesn't care what folder you use, and is agnostic as to whether it is in Dropbox, iCloud, etc. The only thing that it cares about is that you have proper permissions to access the folder (and it's technically macOS that cares about that, not nvUltra...)
I created a test folder named "Dropbox (Personal)" and put a test folder and document inside that. It all worked without problem.
I notice that you seem to have your folder on a separate volume. Are you sure the permissions are all set properly?

That is correct it is on an external volume and the permissions are set to Read and Write for the user account and Read and Write for staff. Everyone is set to Read Only. I've tried it with all 3 set to Read and Write and it still fails to launch the folder via the Navigator window.
I also just created Dropbox (Personal) folder on a different external volume and it failed as well. I also created a folder called "test" on an external volume and that fails to launch via the Navigator window. Again, I can open all of these folders via Open>Recent.
Any other place I can address file permissions? Also if I create the folder anywhere my machine's internal volume I have no issue.

and here is what I pulled from the console while trying to access the dropbox folder:

What happens if you turn off (quit) the dropbox app and then open the folder? (Obviously, don't forget to restart the app after you test this... ;)

Thanks for all the back and forth Fletcher. I was mistaken that is was a dropbox issue. Upon further testing attempting to open any folder on an external volume via the navigator replicated the behavior. Opening a folder that is on the desktop or anywhere else on my internal volume works as expected, but once i created a folder on any external volume it fails to open the folder and the navigator window disappears.
I am attaching a quicktime video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sq8ata1zxkx37v0/nvultra_externalvolume.mov?dl=0
Could those ".." in the beginning of the file paths be the issue?
Thanks,

I am seeing exactly the same behavior (navigator disappears when I double click on the folder, but no new window opens; I do get a proper window via File > Open Recent and then have no problem accessing the files).
However, my text files are stored in a Google Drive folder. (More specifically it's in a subdirectory of a Google Drive folder marked "Make available offline".) This has been my main folder for NVAlt for months, with no problems.
Quitting and/or restarting the Google Drive File Stream app doesn't seem to make a difference.
All I see in the console when double-clicking on the navigator is

I think I figured out the issue with external volumes and it should be fixed in the next release. If not, please open new issue with examples.
Thanks!
