Crash related to preview pane

I toggled on the preview pane by clicking the menu item. As I was typing, text appeared in the preview pane but not in the editing pane. I pressed the keyboard shortcut (⌃⌘P) to toggle the preview pane off and the app crashed. I’m running 12.1.2.
