Search bar above file list?

I thought I created this request earlier...guess I forgot to!

This may be a long shot, but any chance the search bar can be moved above (or made a part of) the file list? This would give more vertical space in the editor, and allow for the search bar to be hidden along with the file list.

  We can consider this, but I think it goes in the category of "probably not."  (I don't want to give false hope of doing something we probably won't do.)

  Out of curiosity, what sort of display/window layout are you using that the searchbar height makes that significant of an impact in  the usable editor space?

  I'm on a laptop, and I mostly keep the app in the bottom left of my display. Between the smaller screen on a laptop, the menu bar, the dock, and the app I keep on the upper left, vertical space is precious. Not a huge issue, but in general, I'd like to be able to make the search bar disappear, and I thought this would be a good way to do it.

  Ah.  Thanks for the explanation.

   

  I always use hiding on the dock to increase available vertical space.
