Searching cannot find :: or ||

When I try to search nvU for :: or ||, it will not populate the file list unless I include a letter that follows those characters in my notes, e.g., ::N or ||N. Is this a bug?

  To allow for high search performance without churning your hard drive by scanning the files over and over, the files are indexed. (The index can optionally be cached to the disk when nvUltra quits to speed launch the next time.)

  To minimize index size (reducing memory usage and disk space), punctuation is not indexed (with the exception of intraword hyphens. )
