2-space tabs option

I prefer 2-space tab width instead of 4 or 8 and I'd love to be able to use that. Most of this comes from the indent conventions of Ruby and JavaScript, and I use nvUltra to write a lot of code snippets to reference later.

  What specifically do you want to happen differently?

   

  Markdown, and therefore MultiMarkdown, use 4 spaces to equal a tab.  So when converting text to HTML and other formats, 4 spaces is the only option that exists.

   

  You can certainly write code snippets using whatever number of leading spaces you desire (what you type is what you get).  So in that sense, you can use 2, 4, 8, 3, 7, or whatever you desire.

  That's a good question. I assumed when I hit the tab key (which I used to indent lists, mostly) I wanted it to add 2 spaces instead of 4 or 8 in the editor. I just tried it and you're right, it doesn't count the indent until 4 spaces. I have other markdown editors that treat 2 spaces as the next level in; GitHub for example.

  However, I understand that this is probably more of a feature request for MD or MMD at this point and therefore out of scope :)

  Gotcha.

   

  At this point I have no plans to change indenting rules in MMD, unless they change in MD.  And since Gruber is exceedingly unlikely to touch MD ever again, that's not likely to happen.  But never say never and all that...
