A feature request and a tagging question
CompletedA feature request:
I would like the ability to pin some notes as favorites or to show up at the top of the file-list on the sidebar.
Is this expected behavior?
I assigned the tag `pin` to five files. Then I search for the tag `pin`, only three show up in the list. I quit and restart the application. Search for tag `pin` again and this time, all five files show up.
How long does it take for the tags to be indexed?

Actually I am not sure that we need the favorites or pinning function either.
I assigned the documents I need quick assess to a tag and when I search for that tag, they show up in a list and the list is live till I change something in a file away from this list. That is effectively giving me the ability to concentrate on the subset of files in my notes folder and I am not sure that I need the favorites function at all.
The second part of the comment is still valid though. How long does it take for tags to be indexed?

The contents of a text file are indexed when you navigate away from the file (re-indexing a long file while you're typing in it is not very efficient and slows down perceived speed as well as wastes battery).
Files that are changed outside of the application are indexed when nvUltra is notified by the OS, which should be pretty much instantly.
What exactly do you mean when you "assigned the tag `pin` to five files"? If you describe exactly what you're doing, I can try to replicate.
For example, if I use the Finder to add a tag to a file while searching nvUltra for that tag, as soon as I close the Get Info window, that file appears in the search results in nvUltra.
If I edit a file and add a MMD tag to it, as soon as I run a search for that tag it appears in the results.
I do like your take on using tags to implement a pinning function though!!

I am assigning tags by the following metadata at the beginning of the file:
---
Title: This is the title
Date: This is the date
Tags: tags
---And you are right. When I finish with the file, and move on to the search for the tag, it does show up instantly.
I must have been doing something weird before.

Using tags like this does work pretty well (good tip!), but I'm still interested in a pinned note feature. Would be really useful to keep my "Table of Contents"/Index note at the top of the list.
