1. Search/Create bar cannot find top-level files that contain the characters [ or { 2. the chars cause problems in subfolders
CompletedTwo related bugs :
As I described in Cognitive Productivity, I have file naming conventions for random access of my files using LaunchBar. For example, I prefix my meeting notes with {{ and I prefix my notes about knowledge resources with [ . That way, with LaunchBar I can type { followed by part of the person's name or title of the source document , to quickly access meeting minutes/prep notes and notes about resource (meta-docs), respectively
Here are some of my file names:
{{Carolxyz Next Meeting
{cameron
{mum
[Brel http-/www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAZ55Gz-zto.txt
[Dennet Inside jokes.rtf
Bug # 1: When I type the foregoing in the Search/Create bar nvUltra returns no result.
However, if I search for any of the following, nvUltra correctly finds matching files listed above
Carolxyz
cameron
mum
Brel
That is to say that nvUltra has trouble with those characters. (They also cause problems if they are not at the beginning of the file)
Workaround: omit the special character ([ or { ).
Bug #2:
nvUltra has an extra problem with those characters when they appear in the name of files in subfolders. For instance, when I search for
Betroffenheit.txt
nvUltra fails to find this file:
Meta\ docs/\[Betroffenheit.txt
But if I search for "ZV4X7-Y5Z2K" it will find the file named "ZV4X7-Y5Z2K tmp.txt" in the same folder.
