Performance on iCloud [update on my issues]
CompletedI just wanted to give an update for you, Fletcher and Brett.
As you may remember, a while ago when you guys added me to the beta I was experiencing terrible performance, freezes and memory issues. I upgraded my Mac to a M1 MacBook and initially I thought that fixed the issue and I posted as much. It didn't. The issues continued. I've been looking into it and trying to figure out what is going on since whenever I had time.
Well I finally stumbled across the solution. I was having some iCloud issues a few weeks ago with files being silently deleted or doubled. This led me to move everything off the icloud drive folders and then turn it off. One of the folders that I have always kept on icloud drive is my “notes” folder which I used for nvultra and nvALT.
I was shocked when, after moving the “notes” folder to / , suddenly nvultra stopped having problems. No more freezing when I was using it, no more crashing. It now works absolutely perfectly. Well, let's not jinx it, but I've been now using it daily for the past month with no issues, whereas I was having constant issues before every single time I opened the app.
So this is to say, the issues I've been experiencing the past few years would seem to have been caused by icloud drive. I'm now smacking myself for not thinking to test that before now. A professional tester I am not….

Thanks for the update.
Almost all of my use of nvUltra is on folders that belong in iCloud.
I have not had problems with iCloud files being deleted or doubled.
If you end up trying to work on an iCloud folder again, and find any new details, please update us.
Thanks!!
