Wysiwyg Markdown
I've long wished for a markdown editor that combines preview and editing into one view.
This can be done by rendering the file in preview mode and hiding the markdown formatting except where the user is currently editing.
So *italic* would be shown as italic until you bring the insertion point adjacent to the word or inside it, and then would temporarily show as *italic* or *italic*.
Just found an app that implements this: Typora.io. It doesn't seem to get it right entirely, but does seem like a proof of concept that this can work well enough.
Since nvUltra has other advantages that Typora doesn't, I'm not about to jump ship--but posting this to invite y'all to consider implementing this.

Obsidian does this too (hides the markup code until cursor is near).

This definitely is a key feature for modern markdown editors.

This is a “make or break” feature for me. If I need to preview my file in a separate tab or window, then I will need to use another app.
Is this on the roadmap?

This is not currently on the roadmap.
